4/9/2008    Open Letter to all Members and Guests of Sunshine Gardens Resort in Battle Creek, Michigan

We apologize for the late timing of this letter. It has been quite hectic around here as we have spent considerable time with several possible buyers, clothing and nudist, who didn’t seem concerned that we have a new season fast approaching.

Hi, hope you are well and that you have enjoyed health and prosperity over the past winter season.

We are both fine and have had a fun winter vacation. We now look forward to the 2008 season.

We have enjoyed having you as members and friends over the past years and the sharing of a lifestyle that we still feel strongly about and intend to practice whenever we have the opportunity.

We are sorry to inform you that at this time, Sunshine Gardens Resort will no longer be a nudist facility. We will be opening May 1st as a clothing park, unless someone buys it and decides to continue as a nudist park.

We would again like to clarify; rumors regarding illness or failing health is prompting us to sell SGR, is not true. We are just looking forward to total retirement in the next few years, and selling SGR is the first step to this. We are also selling our other properties including two rental homes, eight lots, and six rental apartments.

As many of you are aware SGR has been listed for sale. We have had several potential purchasers that have stated, if it were an up and running clothing campground they would definitely be more interested in making the large time, effort and financial commitment needed. We also had two possible buyers, that apparently are no longer interested, that would have kept it as a nudist park.

We hope you might join with us in this new venture. However we certainly understand if you decide to find a nudist facility to pursue the lifestyle we have enjoyed, we wish you good will. We welcome you to be a part of this event, and will appreciate any help and your support, as we make this monumental decision and change.

With this venture we expect to see many more events, activities and participants than we have seen at SGR since the 50’s and 60’s. There are few clothing campgrounds to choose from in the Battle Creek area and none that have all the amities offered at SGR. Many people, neighbors and friends in our area have shared with us, that it is difficult to find a place to camp and they have to make reservations months in advance.

NOTE: If you decide not to continue membership at SGR we would need you to move your RV as soon as it is convenient for you and the ground is not soft, or by May 1st. Please call for a time convenient to you and us.

At your request, we will be calculating a pro-rated refund, which will be available after removal of an RV from site. If you decide to visit or take a membership we will be pleased to accommodate you.

We have updated our new rates on the website.

If anyone who is a member now and wants to see what it will be like, they can use the remainder of their membership, at no additional rate increase, or they can request a pro-rated refund.

This just might be the opportunity to wear some of the “normal” bathing, beach and camping attire that SGR wouldn’t allow as a nudist park. Seems kind of ironic doesn’t it?

We are having an Open House at SGR on April 26, 2008 from 1 pm to 5 pm.

Your good friends,

                        Maynard & Penny
